Why You Need to Keep your Skin Hydrated and Moisturised

During summer, your body loses a lot of moisture which is why hydrating from the inside out is important to keep your skin nourished and looking its best. Dehydrated skin vs Dry skin

There is a difference between dehydrated and dry skin.

Dehydrated skin lacks moisture and can look dull, itchy, and is caused by high temperatures, over exfoliation, air conditioning and other factors such as lifestyle.

Dry skin on the other hand can cause redness, flaky skin, itchiness, fine wrinkles become more noticeable and is caused by various things such as low humidity in the air, hot and dry weather, certain skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, certain soaps or simply having a naturally dry skin.

Hydration Vs Moisturisation

Hydration and moisturisation go hand in hand as you need both to ensure the skin is getting the water it needs to prevent dehydration, dryness, environmental damage, and signs of aging. Hydration is the water content within the skin cells. Moisturising is all about locking in moisture and protecting the skins barrier to prevent dehydration of the skin, which keeps the skin plump, soft, smooth, and radiant.

How to Hydrate and Moisturise your skin

  • Drink sufficient water

  • Sufficient sleep at least 8-9hrs, to avoid temptations to keep working use the sleep mode function on your smart phone

  • Food that’s water rich such as watermelon, strawberries

  • Use products that hydrate your skin

  • Avoid very hot showers and limit the time you spend in the shower
